My name is Jan, a.k.a. The Woolhunter and I have been knitting for - well lets just say quite a few years now. About 3 years ago, I went into semi-retirement after a long illness and sitting at home getting totally bored I started to purchase and import yarns from around the world. Originally they were just for my own use but I started to realise that there were a lot of like-minded knitters out there and I started to offer them for sale on ebay.
One thing led to another and eventually I starting dyeing my own yarns in January 2007. They have grown in popularity and I am now able to offer them direct from the shop here on my web site. As I tend to dye in small batches there are always new colourways for sale. Most colourways are not repeated and this keeps the real spirit of the "indie" dyer alive and also makes my yarn very unique! Have a browse and please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions regarding any of the yarns. I am also happy to custom dye and welcome trade enquiries.
I am also a registered stockist of the ever popular Lorna's Laces yarns and indeed have my own unique colourway that you cannot purchase elsewhere called "Counting Sheep" although, having said that, I am currently out of stock of this yarn due to the high demand I received.
I also produce a budget range of yarns as well as my standard yarns some in smaller skein sizes. To look at yarns that are only available in my ebay shop please us the following link:- Woolhunter Yarns ebay shop.
I also have a group on the knitting site Ravelry where you can also go to ask questions, get more news and ideas, compare your creations and just generally have a chat. Please do join us.

THE LATEST NEWS!
Hello again!
Gosh the weeks have flown past since I last updated this bit. Quite a lot has happened since the beginning of June mostly the fact that to add to my woes I have been suffering very badly with sciatica as some of you already know. All I can say is that despite the pain I normally get from the usual suspects with my health, this is the most painful thing I have ever suffered. I can't even remember it hurting that much when I've had major surgery. To roll over in bed has been agonising and don't ask about trying to get out of said bed. I've been having physio for it and finally for the last two days HURRAH! It seems as though it may be getting a bit better but I am crossing all my fingers and toes and everything else that it stays that way. Any of you fellow knitters out that that suffer with it I literally FEEL YOUR PAIN!
Needless to say, my dyeing activities have been extremely curtailed. Thank goodness I'd built up a large stock that I've been able to fall back on and there are now some new supplies again in the shop. Another batch of the beautiful Angel Sock in some very interesting mixes. I love this yarn its just so peachey and soft. Trouble is I never seem to get time to knit with it myself. There's also a new supply of the popular "Skinnie" Slinky Lace in some delicious colours too. I hope someone nabs the Green Jade quick before I feel obliged to knit with it - prissy please - like I so need to start another project!
I recently published a triangular feather and fan style pattern on Ravelry called Withybush Shawl and the requests for this have been amazing. I can't believe how many people liked it and have asked for the pattern from as far away as Australia to the US and Canada not to mention jolly old GB. The pattern is available free but there is one catch - you have to buy the yarn for it. Dangling carrots springs to mind!
Well that's all for now, I will try and get some dyeing done now the back has improved so I'll be in touch soon.
HAPPY KNITTING
Love JAN xx

The pictured projects are all garments I have finished recently.
The first picture is a closeup of the pattern for my Falling Leaves triangular shawl in my new British Cotswold 4 ply yarn. This is WIP so I will add more pictures soon and the pattern together with the yarn will be available shortly. It is being knit on 4.5 mm needles and the colourway used is Flimston Bay.
The second picture is of the 3rd Pattern recently completed which is exclusive to the Sockette Set Club - just for those of you who didn't join to see what you are missing! The yarn used is my Ultrasoft Sock and the colouway is called Mists & Mellow Fruitfulness. Sock blockers purchased from Ursula at Laal Bear (laalbearsshop.blogspot.com) and very good and reasonably priced they are too!
The third picture is a close of of a simple triangular shawl pattern using my new Skinnie Slinky Laceweight yarn. Again this is a WIP and as soon as I have more pictures I will post onto the web shop them together with the pattern. This is knit on 4 mm needles and the colourway used is Mary Mary, a custom dye made for, would you believe it, Mary a.k.a. "The Sock Pattern Tester" amongst other things! YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE..................
